KCS (Kolff Computer Supplies): Dual HD Drive Deluxej
Connection: Floppy Drive Port (Extern) |
Hi Res Version - 66K
The dual high density drive for the Amiga which connects to the external floppy drive port. In order to use the drives in high density mode, a driver supplied with the drives should be added to the startup-sequence. No driver is required if the drives are simply used as double density drives. Unlike most floppy drives, they also include special hardware to allow the copying of non-standard DOS disks, in particular copy protected disks, similar to the devices such as the Cyclone or the X-Copy Dongle which can be enabled by a switch on the back. The drives also rather uniquely support hardware compression on floppy disks, which allowed the user to backup their hard drive for example, using the supplied software. The drive was also available in several other colours such as grey and orange.
